A large-scale national survey for NHS ambulance staff and volunteers
Survey to capture experiences and attitudes towards infection prevention and control before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here our team talk about some of their highlights from the past year as we look forward to an exciting 2024!
In 2023 we stepped into the vibrant workspace of a young industry leader, and were honoured to dive deep into their world to support them in taking their next steps as a growing organisation. This client, a master of generating liquidity and value across global commodities markets, welcomed us to witness their high-performance and success first-hand. We identified the pillars of their success, whilst also recommending strategic adjustments for their growth. I am looking forward to seeing how our report guides their evolution as a business.

A personal highlight for me last year was working with North East Ambulance Service’s Emergency Operations Centre (NEAS EOC) to help them better understand how to improve and enhance working life for 999 and 111 call handlers.
It has been rewarding to see how the work we conducted across a series of five major workstreams has led to significant changes and strategic developments across the Trust’s recruitment and retention planning.
It has shown what a difference our work can make to staff on the front line, and the positive impact it can have across different levels of the organisation.

One of the most stretching and rewarding aspects of 2023 was the initiation of leadership development projects with various clients. As we move into 2024 we are now poised to work with over 800 leaders, taking them on an exciting and transformative journey. Meeting many of these individuals has been a privilege and such an inspiration to witness the way they think. We are excited to see how they will shape the culture of their organisations and look forward to collaborating with the remaining participants throughout 2024.

I am thrilled with the expansion of our well-being tool, and the development of so many resources stemming from ground-breaking research. Last year, we also introduced four comprehensive ‘pathways’ designed to assist people in navigating some of life’s most difficult challenges, such as relationship breakdown, stress, and addiction. I am optimistic that these initiatives will provide tremendous benefits to many, and feel privileged to be a part of a project with such a profound purpose.

2023 has seen Zeal embark on an exciting and ambitious project which aims to better understand and manage sickness absence within East Midlands Ambulance Service. This project allowed us the really unique opportunity to use a qualitative approach to fully immerse ourselves in understanding the experiences of staff and to help identify some of the underpinning root causes for sickness absence. I have personally loved working so closely with staff and seeing the rich information and valuable action plans that have already started to emerge. I am genuinely excited to continue my work on this project this year and to see the difference that this work will have over time, not only to the support that staff receive when they are unwell, but to the service provided to patients through the reduction of absence rates.
